General Manager

Factory Tøyen is a brand new private workspace and cultural home on the East side of Oslo. We are looking for someone to help us run the space and to have the overall responsibility of our community as the General Manager. Our ambitions are grand, as we want to be the #1 destination for new ideas, inspired creatives, and thoughtful conversations. This is not your average GM role.

 

About the Role

The role of the General Manager will be to oversee the day-to-day operations of Factory Tøyen. In this role, you will directly manage the community team, stay on top of marketing activities, ensure operations always meet our quality standards, and our weekly programming (events and activities). 

 

Your number one priority is making sure our members get top value out of their membership, and that our space is running sustainably. As the team leader, you are responsible for giving your team the tools and resources needed to succeed. You plan budgets, measure results, and identify opportunities for the space and community to thrive.

 

You will work alongside the founder and operational board of Factory Tøyen, and with a landlord that is heavily invested in the success of this concept. As this is a startup at heart, you need to be structured and reliable, as things will move fast and we are likely to break some things along the way. Personal drive and dedication, high standards for quality, and reliability are key in this role.

 

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Day to Day Operations; evaluation and improvements

  • Be the Epitome of the Brand, actively engage in the larger community by attending events, networking with local businesses, and neighborhood organizations

  • Manage billings, payments, budgets, and P&L

  • Execute according to company strategy

  • Implement and stay on top of OKRs

  • Prepare and distribute reports according to OKRs and metrics, review weekly reports, and finalize monthly reports that outline community and sales progress

  • Manage membership contracts and sales activities

  • Oversee staff productivity, training of new employees, and professional development

  • Directly manage a team of 2-5 people, to deliver on member satisfaction and experience/hospitality goals

  • Stay on top of Partnerships

  • Promote a positive image to Public Relations

  • Maintain company standards, values and expectations

 

Experience & Requirements:

  • 3+ years of proven management and operational experience

  • Experience driving local marketing and sales activities

  • Experience in planning, implementing, and managing budgets, OKRs and metrics

  • Strong administrative experience; in-depth knowledge of computer systems, platforms, and functions

  • A strong growth mindset, eager to learn and curious about all things new

  • Excellent communication skills, verbally and written

  • Fluency in English and Norwegian

  • High quality standards and dedication to quality control

  • Experience in handling internal conflicts

  • Proven leadership skills and problem-solving attitude

  • Experience in operations required, preferably as a General Manager in the hospitality industry

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher)
